Community Coming Together: Observations by Garick Zikan

As restrictions lift during the COVID-19 pandemic, Garick Zikan like many others are out walking in their neighborhoods.  At the end of one small street in his neighborhood, Garick Zikan noticed a gathering of about 20 people obeying proper social distancing.  It turns out the neighbors had decided to have their own high school graduation ceremony for about 5 students.  The ceremony was clearly organized by the students, and Garick Zikan found it be a great mix of formality and humor.  It was nice to see the community coming together.

Walking is a great form of exercise, and Garick Zikan has been an avid walker all his life.  A simple walk through the neighborhood has big benefits.  Garick Zikan has noticed more people taking part in this simple activity during the coronavirus pandemic.  It’s great to see more people walking, and there’s also a sense of community that has come with this which seems to bring us together.  Garick Zikan hopes this communal spirit continues after life returns to normal.
